Hybrid Boring Planer Mill 1

This Hybrid Boring / Milling Planer was developed by the Well's Bros. here in the Newell Snow Complex to produce lathes for under the Automatic Machine Company name. It is completely unique and demonstrates the innovative thought processes that go in to increasing production and quality. Operation shows the Boring Mill line boring the lathe headstock with a fixture aligned with bed ways. This alowed the bed and headstock to be cast in one piece which provided superior rigidity and exacting alignment of spindle with ways. No examples of this machine confiquration survive today and it's believed to be a one of a kind machine.
