Bascom Dam

The Bascom dam is located 1/4 mile down river from the museum. It is the last surviving wood crib dam in Massachuseetts. At this site the dam provided water power to Russell Cutlery and later Wiley and Russell Tap & Die. It is believed that the angled design created less stress on the structure.
