L.S. Starrett

The LS Starrett company has earned its reputation as "The Worlds Greatest Toomakers" and is still the largest remaining Franklin County employer in the tool industry. Generations of skilled machinists and toolmakers continue to provide tools and precision measuring instruments to industries all over the world. For many machinists, a Starrett micrometer is the "only one" that feels right and their loyalty continues today. The company was founded in 1880 by Laroy S Starrett who got off a train in Athol Mass looking for a company to produce his patented design for a meat chopper.
